Susan Carkeek

Bio
Susan has worked as a showing artist for over 20 years with one-woman shows all over the West from Montana to San Diego.

At present she is painting in a studio in El Granada, California while she owns and directs "Fly on the Wall" Art School and Gallery in Moss Beach, California.

She paints, shows, publishes, teaches, works, and lives with serious humor.

Reflection
I had a hard time deciding what to do with the mask. It had a beautiful shape and beautiful contours and it seemed to need to be about beauty. But that didn't seem like enough because of the Hospice connection.

My regular work didn't seem right either...'I'm painting love letters to those who left' but what does that say to the person leaving? And then it came to me...it's the same...going, coming, staying, leaving...the important thing is the love and the connection.
