Although currently a full-time artist working in oils, Tom Chapman previously made a living as a thoroughbred jockey for twenty years, winning more than 2,600 races. He took up painting for relaxation, selling to friends and people in the racing business. Soon, painting became a passion. Today, his main artistic subject is horses of all breeds and pets of all kinds. Tom and his wife, Katherine, have been married twenty-four years. They have two sons and are expecting a third child this fall.
Thoughts:
My mask is painted to look like a jockey. I like most of my art to represent my life in some way. I try to depict something from my past, something that I love or some place I've lived or visited. This jockey mask depicts my former profession.
