1999 Collection - Sheila Edwards-May

A British citizen living in the Bay Area for 25 years, Ms. Edwards-May loves to paint, draw, and sculpt, usually employing her creativity to help others. She founded and operates Tokenz, a wholesale jewelry business which shipped hundreds of styles of earrings to 2,000 stores nationwide and overseas from its San Francisco location. Today, with a retail focus, Tokenz-and Ms. Edwards-May-are part of the coastal community of Half Moon Bay, California.

Thoughts:

I am truly honored to design a mask; I feel connected to the VNA's worthy cause since my own father passed away while in hospice care. I see the mask as an interior space with windows where the eyes would be. The eyes as windows to the soul -- this is my concept. I am conveying the idea of passing through which is, after all, somewhat akin to our journey from mortal life to the ether of the universe.
