Thoughts:

Carol Channing is one my favorite celebrities and her features inspired my painting, although the molded mouth prevented me from capturing her fabulous trademark smile. My medium is pastel that is pure pigment ground and bound into sticks like chalk. Pastel paintings, like watercolors, are mounted under class for protection. I painted this mask with sharp pastels and, for permanent protection, I sprayed it with many layers of art-quality clear acrylic that will never discolor.
