1999 Collection - Patricia E. Keefe

For twenty years, Ms. Keefe has worked as an artist and an art therapist. She points out that masks have always been an historical and mysterious part of art history and anthropology, as well as an important symbol in psychology and psychotherapy. They are integral to theater and weave in and out of the art media.

Thoughts:

Originally, I had planned a sculptural mask — funny or just clever. But, after seeing a picture of the endangered Siberian Tiger - the White Tiger — I had to paint this animal's face. I found a dignity, grace, and strength in this animal that represents for me the dignity and empowerment that Hospice gives to those in need.
