A graphic artist and painter, Mr. Hermsen has also done jewelry design and woodworking. He enjoys exploring new media, such as the opportunity presented by the Hospice Mask Project.

I am interested in the intersection of art and craft, so the Hospice Mask Project was a perfect creative opportunity for me. I painted a mask that could not be identified with a particular time period, gender or stylistic derivation. The materials are artist’s drawing inks and acrylic varnish.
