My husband and I are building a straw-bale house in Colorado. One morning this summer, I went outside toward the deer path that meanders through the aspens and circle of red caught my eye. Upon approaching it, I saw Red-shafted Flicker feathers left in a beautiful circle by a predator. It feels fitting to transform them into this mask design, to benefit those who face transformation at the end of their lives.
