Mr. Riggs is a mixed media/assemblage artist who works with found objects. His work has been displayed in shows throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thoughts:

I frequently take walks in the old industrial park where I have my studio. The old buildings — weathered and rusting — are inspirational to my work. On my walks, I collect discarded pieces of metal — gears, wire, rusty screws and bolts, etc. — only to bring them home and throw them in a bucket, not sure what to do with them. When the Hospice Mask Project came along, I finally had the chance to use some of these treasures. Entitled "Industrial Me," my mask design is a self-portrait or characterization of myself and my love of things old, industrial, rusty and beautiful.
